Florence -- probably our favorite among the places we visited. We stayed in the Hotel Pitti Palace located just off the Arno River at the foot of the Ponte de Vecchio (bridge lined by long-standing gold stores). This turned out to be a great location. We were in easy walking distance of most of Florence with several good places to eat immediately around the hotel.
