Genetic regulatory networks as dynamical systems.

Joshua Socolar

Abstract: The web of interactions among genes and their products that sustains the
life of a cell is an extremely complex physical system.  In addition to
figuring out how the individual components interact, we would like to
understand any global mechanisms of organization that govern the evolution
of the genetic regulatory network. I will present results on two types
of mathematical structures arising in models that share some essential
features of genetic regulatory networks: the dynamical behavior of
randomly wired Boolean networks; and the scaling behavior of networks
grown according to certain probabilistic rules.
