Shaken Rayleigh-Benard convection

Example of a square quasiperiodic pattern. This is the pattern that was used on the cover of the journal Nonlinearity in 2003.

Movie in avi format of a square quasiperiodic crystal observed in experiments. The movie contains 30 frames of 400 by 400 pixels playing at a rate of 5 frames per second. In the experiment 480 by 480 pixel images were recorded every 10 seconds, providing a view of the experiment for 5 minutes.
